Long Island, NY - Suffolk County

Au Pair USA has a very active cluster of au pairs and host families in the communities on Long Island, including many areas of Nassau, Suffolk and Queens County. Each month, Au Pair USA Local Coordinators work with host families, helping them with the matching process and answering their questions about the program. They also arrange monthly meetings and social events for au pairs to help them build friendships and adjust to life in the United States.

Your Au Pair USA Local Coordinator:

Jolene Leonardo

Jolene’s community of au pairs and host families includes Central Long Island: Happauge, Holtsville, Huntington Station, Southampton, Stony Brook, Sag Harbor and Ronkonkoma, as well as many others.

About Jolene:

Hello! My name is Jolene Leonardo. I am available to answer your questions, give you advice, and help you to have a great experience here in the United States.

My husband Joe and I have four children; Joseph, Jessica, Jamie and Michael. I have a degree from Suffolk Community College. For six years I worked at a Management Consulting firm in Manhattan as a Recruiting Coordinator. I am very involved in my children’s activities and I love to volunteer. Currently, I am enjoy being a Girl Scout leader and a Little League baseball manager. I am also the Cultural Arts Chairperson at an elementary school.

Our Suffolk County cluster is located in the state of New York and is rich in history and culture. We live in a four-season climate. There are lots of beautiful flowers in the spring in the public gardens. In the summer you can go to concerts by the sea, carnivals and you can go fishing, biking, sailing, surfing, golfing and play tennis. Autumn is a time for nature walks, pick-your-own farms and festivals and fairs. Indoors you can enjoy great entertainment, art galleries, museums, theatre, dance, and shopping.

Please feel free to phone or e-mail me if you have any questions before you arrive. I look forward to meeting you, and wish you a great au pair year!

Best wishes,
Jolene

About Jolene's Cluster:

  • Long Island is an island just off southeast New York State. At the westernmost end of Long Island you will find Brooklyn and Queens, which are two of the five boroughs that make up New York City.
  • Suffolk County is known for beach towns, including the world-renowned Hamptons, and for the most eastern part of the Island, Montauk Point, home of Montauk Lighthouse.

  • Long Island has warm, humid summers and cold winters, but the Atlantic Ocean helps bring afternoon sea breezes that temper the heat in the warmer months and limit the frequency and severity of thunderstorms.
