Hudson Valley, NY
Au Pair USA has a very active cluster of au pairs and host families in downstate New York, including the Hudson Valley areas. Each month, Au Pair USA Local Coordinators work with host families, helping them with the matching process and answering their questions about the program. They also arrange monthly meetings and social events for au pairs to help them build friendships and adjust to life in the United States.
Your Au Pair USA Local Coordinator:
Denise & Matthew Markowitz
A community of au pairs and host families including Orange, Rockland, Sullivan, Sussex and Ulster Counties, as well as other suburban New York City areas.
About Denise and Matthew:
We are Denise & Matthew Markowitz. We are available to answer your questions, give you advice, and help you to have a great experience here in the United States.
We have been coordinators since December 1998 and were a host family from 1996 to 2000. We have 4 children and we were both born and raised in New York City and now live in the country in Warwick, New York. Denise works part time from home, for a company that handles insurance for doctors and hospitals in NYC. She is also a singer/actress who has most recently been working in operas. Matt is a Lieutenant for the New York City Police Department.
Our area of New York is called the Hudson Valley. Both areas also have state parks, forests and mountain regions. Access to New York City is easy by train or bus and is about 2 hours away. Our area has many historical sites, fairs and festivals, artists and art colonies, theatre companies, horseback riding, apple orchards, skiing, boating & sunbathing on the lakes. Of course, shopping, movies, restaurants and nightclubs are also part of the lifestyle here.
Please feel free to phone or e-mail us if you have any questions before you arrive. We look forward to meeting you, and wish you a great au pair year!
Best wishes,
Denise & Matthew
