Washington DC / Maryland Area
Bethesda, Chevy Chase and Silver Spring, MD

Au Pair USA has several very active clusters of au pairs and host families in the Washington DC area and the surrounding suburbs. Each month, Au Pair USA Local Coordinators work with host families, helping them with the matching process and answering their questions about the program. They also arrange monthly meetings and social events for au pairs to help them build friendships and adjust to life in the United States.

Your Au Pair USA Local Coordinator:

Rhonda Kaufman

Rhonda's community of Au Pairs and Host Families is located in Washington DC, and part of the surrounding Maryland suburbs. Maryland communities include Bethesda, Chevy Chase, Silver Spring, Takoma Park, Lanham, Kensington, and College Park.

About Rhonda:

Hello, my name is Rhonda, and I am the local coordinator for the Bethesda, Kensington, Chevy Chase, and Silver Spring areas of Maryland as well as Washington, DC. I have been an Au Pair USA local coordinator since 2001. During that time, I have had the opportunity to work with many wonderful host families and au pairs.

I am a native Washingtonian. When I am not working as a coordinator, I am a teacher at a preschool for two year old children. Before teaching, I was an art director for Earle Palmer Brown Advertising Agency. Regarding my home life, I am married and have three girls who really keep me busy, as you can imagine, but I love it.

Our group consists of 25 to 30 families, and I really enjoy meeting all the different au pairs and families and learning about their cultures. Each month, I will plan a cluster meeting where au pairs meet and get to know eachother. I send out newsletters to keep you updated on what's happening in our cluster, but I am always available to answer questions and to help your transition to your new life in this fantastic city.

Best wishes,
Rhonda

About Rhonda's Cluster:

  • There are between 25 and 30 au pairs in the group, so you will make many friends quickly. There is another large au pair cluster nearby in the Potomac and Rockville area, and we get together with them often.
  • Washington DC has lots to see and do. You can tour the White House, visit the Washington Monument, the National Zoo and the Smithsonian Museums. We are also surrounded by many beautiful parks, shopping areas, theatres and sports events.

  • The public transportation system here is known to be one of the best in the world, so most places are easily accessible by bus or train.
