Becoming an Au Pair in America
Step 1
To become an au pair in America, you must live in a country where Au Pair USA has a local partner office.
International Au Pair Partners are in:
| Argentina | Austria | Belgium | Botswana | Brazil | Bulgaria |
| Chile | China | Colombia | Croatia | Czech Republic | Denmark |
| Ecuador | El Salvador | France | Germany | Hungary | India |
| Ireland | Israel | Italy | Japan | Kazakhstan | Latvia |
| Mexico | Netherlands | New Zealand | Norway | Poland | Romania |
| Serbia & Montenegro | Slovak Republic | South Africa | South Korea | Spain | Sweden |
| Switzerland | Thailand | Turkey | United Kingdom | Ukraine |
If you don't live in one of these countries,

Work Exchange Programs in the U.S.
Step 2
Fill out our online Information Request Form and we will send you the name and address of our partner in your home country. They will answer your questions and supply you with a brochure and application forms.
Applications are accepted all year. Arrival dates are based on when you match with a host family, and the length of time it takes to be approved for a J-1 visa in your country. Our Au Pair Matching Dates and Arrival Calendar can be used as an estimate to the timeline.
Step 3
When a family feels that you might be right for them, they will call you for a telephone interview. During the call, you and the family can talk freely and ask questions. A list of suggested questions is in the Handbook for Host Families and Au Pairs that you will receive when you are accepted into the program. After the first call, the family will follow up with a second call at an agreed upon time.
Step 4
When you and a host family agree to match, you should let our partner in your home country know as soon as possible, so that we can start making visa and travel arrangements for you!
Step 5
You will arrive in the U.S. on selected Mondays throughout the year and participate in a 4-day/5-night Au Pair Orientation and Training program in New York City before you travel to your new host family the following Friday.
