Au Pair USA J-1 Visa Features for Au Pairs

au pairs on the J1 Visa Au Pair USA makes a commitment to service for au pairs and host families to make every effort to ensure the best experience possible.

J-1 Visa Sponsorship

Au Pair USA is designated by the U.S. Department of State to offer an Au Pair program in the United States under the J-1 Visa program. This visa permits au pairs to work legally in the United States as an au pair. All au pairs are sponsored by InterExchange for a J-1 Exchange Visitor Visa.

Choose from Carefully Screened Host Families

Au Pair USA carefully screens host families before accepting them into the program to make sure host families are willing to accept an au pair into their home as an extended family member.  Host families must supply au pairs with a private bedroom and be willing to include au pairs in their meals, outings, holidays, and other events.

By participating in your host family’s life, you can gain valuable insight into the American culture while improving your English language skills.

Meet other Au Pairs at Au Pair Social Events

You will attend monthly meetings with other au pairs from around the world organized by your local coordinator. Meetings can be informational, cultural, or educational in nature, and are a great way to meet other au pairs. Meetings can include: holiday parties, museum trips, concerts, sporting events, volunteer projects, travel opportunities, charity walks or guest speakers.

Enjoy Spending Money, Free Room and Board, Paid Vacation and Time Off

You will be provided with a weekly stipend of $176.85 per week for 52 weeks, a private room, meals, an education allowance, 2 weeks’ paid vacation, one-and-a-half days off per week and at least 1 complete weekend off each month throughout the year.

Receive Travel Arrangements, International Airfare, Accident and Sickness Insurance

Roundtrip international airfare to the United States, as well as Accident & Sickness Insurance for the length of your stay, are included as part of the program.

Optional Month to Travel Within the United States

After successfully completing the program, you have the opportunity to travel throughout the United States for 1 month before returning home.

Au Pair Orientation and Training in
New York City

You will participate in a 1-week Orientation and Training Program in the heart of New York City prior to settling in with your new family. The  program includes childcare training, basic first aid, and an introduction to life in the United States. It also explains the rules and regulations of the J-1 Visa and the insurance program. You’ll be busy, but you’ll also have time off to explore New York City.

Educational
Allowance

The program includes a $500 per year credit to use toward the educational component. You will take the equivalent of 6 credit hours during the year.
